Your diet after Recovering from COVID

Doctors are asking people who have recovered from COVID to eat more proteins. That’s good. But, is that the right advice? Is there any problem in doctors prescribing a protein rich diet for people who have just recovered from COVID? The question is; What must be your diet after recovering from COVID?

Proteins

Proteins are necessary to build our tissue. That makes them necessary for the body to bounce back to great health. However, proteins are difficult to digest. The strong antibiotics and steroids a person takes while fighting COVID weakens the digestive system. Even simple foods take much longer to digest in the body. So, how can a person who has recovered from COVID digest proteins? It is not possible to digest proteins in the form of dry fruits, nuts, cottage cheese or non-vegetarian foods.

But, the body must recuperate. Is there any way to accomplish this challenge?

Yes! There is.

Eating and Digesting

First of all, we must understand that there is a difference between filling your stomach and digesting what you have eaten. All that you eat cannot get digested. Remember that your intestines are still healing after fighting COVID. So, you need to think before you eat.

What must be your diet after recovering from COVID

Your diet after Recovering from COVID can begin by consuming vegetable protein such as palak or spinach, kidney beans, double beans, chick pea, beetroot and radish leaves and green gram. These are only a few. There are more protein rich lentils and vegetables you can consume.

You can begin by consuming vegetable protein such as palak or spinach, kidney beans, double beans, chick pea, beetroot and radish leaves and green gram. These are only a few. There are more protein rich lentils and vegetables you can consume.

With these, you can prepare dishes such as dal-palak, Whey of toor dal, Pesarattu, Adai Dosa and green leafy vegetable soups. You can get video tutorials on the internet showing you how to prepare them.

When your body is able to digest these, then, you are ready for regular protein rich foods. But, that process may take some two months.

If you eat protein rich foods when the body is still not ready to digest them, your already weak digestive system will weaken your already battered immune system and make you vulnerable to other infections which can be fatal.

So, be patient while your body heals. Support your body as it is healing. Take care of your diet after Recovering from COVID.

Always remember that you need your body and not the other way.
